When you think of artificial intelligence the Terminator might spring to mind - a robot with the ability to think and act like a human.
However, artificial intelligence is actually a really broad term for machine learning, which can describe everything from predictive text to recommendations on Netflix. We're using different forms of AI all the time, whether we know it or not.
Here's our pick of six awesome AIs that you should know about. A few will save you time, the others will waste the time that you saved.
DoNotPay is a great AI that claims to be the world's first robot lawyer. It became famous for appealing parking tickets, but can also help you with flight or train delays, issues with your landlord and claiming PPI.
The appeals process for these things is so laborious that it really lends itself to an AI. It's fast, free and effective - it had overturned 160,000 parking tickets by June of this year. Certainly worth a go if you're struggling with red tape.
This is a great way to waste your morning. It's essentially like pictionary - you follow the prompts to draw something in a time limit, and the AI tries to guess what you've drawn.
After five rounds you can click your answers, and it will show you what else the AI thought your drawing looked like. We repeatedly failed on, 'Animal migration' - how do you draw that anyway?
Ever ended up scrolling through months and months of snaps to find a photo? This is the solution. The Roll is an AI which organises your photos for you, by grouping similar photos together and highlighting the best ones.
To do this it tags everything in your photo, then gives your photo a score which it uses to rank it against similar shots. It's such a useful AI for wannabee photographers, and for the rest of us who are too lazy to scroll.
This little app is a massive collection of sounds that have been organised by an AI. Click shuffle and the AI chooses four and mixes them together to create a drum-kit. It'll then play you a beat using its creation (or you can make your own).
The sounds are actually recordings of ordinary day to day things, like file cabinets, bicycles and a jack in the box . We don't know what 'Door wood residential carpet close' really means, but it sounds pretty good.
This AI is a contract reviewing robot, which aims to make sure that you don't sign a contract you don't understand. Just request a demo for personal use, and you can send the AI a contract to check over.
It recognises if any clauses in your contract are rare, missing or problematic, and then translates any complicated legal jargon into laymen's terms. It's free for personal use, just request a demo from their website.
Giorgio Cam is image recognition software combined with a music making app. Take a photo of something and AI will guess at what it is, and then create a rhyming rap using what its seen.
We had a lot of fun with this, and the AI recognised almost every office item we threw in front of it. If you ever had fun with Microsoft's text to speech voices, you'll love this.
