Best apps for iOS and Android to get you ready for Christmas

Whether you love it or loath it, Christmas is getting ever closer. To take the pressure off a little, we've rounded up the best apps for iOS and Android which will help you through the season.

For those who need everything organised
Lets face it, Christmas can involve a lot of organisation - and to manage everything you might need a list or two. There's no shortage of list apps, but topping them all for us is Wunderlist. You can add reminders, due dates, and categorize your lists - and share your lists to assign to-do's to family and friends. Great for making sure everything gets done, as well as gently reminding people when there are jobs to do.

For those who order Christmas online
Nobody needs missed deliveries around Christmas, and luckily there are plenty of apps which can help solve this problem. Our top picks are Parcel: Delivery Tracking for iOS, and Deliveries Package Tracker on Android. These two apps do pretty much the same thing, supporting lots of couriers and delivery services. They're also compatible with Apple and Google Maps respectively, letting you keep an eye on those orders.

For those sorting out Christmas dinner
Epicurious is a great little recipe app, ideal for budding chefs and available on both iOS and Android. There are loads of filters on the recipes, including complexity, time and dietary, so you can cater for everyone from gluten-free eaters to vegans. Even if you're more of a 'the recipes are in my head' sort of chef, this app might still be helpful; you can add the ingredients from any recipe into a shopping list.

For taking perfect photos
If your Christmas is Instagram-ready, you're going to need a great camera app to photograph it all. We like Rookie Cam for taking beautiful photos with lots of filter options. It's also a photo editor, and the simple layout and design makes it easy to mess about with your shots. No in-depth photography knowledge or experience in image editing necessary, just point, click and let the app do the majority of the work.

For the best Christmas soundtrack
If you've already had your fill of Noddy Holder this year, it's useful to have a music app on hand. For Christmas (and any other time of year) we'd recommend Spotify. Despite the downsides of the free version (advertisements, and being unable to skip songs) it's on the top of the heap for a reason. Make playlists easily, and share them with your friends and family so they can add their own songs. Perfect for saving you from those repetitive festive tunes.

For those who just want Santa to visit
The NORAD Tracks Santa app was a huge hit in 2016, and those watching the skies this year will be pleased to know they can track St. Nick again. You can watch the sleigh's progress on iOS and Android from December 24th, but if you're feeling festive already there are games available to play from December 1st. It's also worth reading the true story of why NORAD tracks Santa; it's heartwarming and hilarious.

The Transcendit Way

Transcendit understand that when you choose to work with us, whether we're taking care of your IT, app or web development, you're trusting us with part of your business. So whether we're looking after your computers, phone systems or servers we always do things 'the Transcendit way'.

The whole of our team adhere to the same values, beliefs and policies - the principles that were written when Transcendit first formed in 2000. Whether you come to us for cloud services or recovery backup you can be confident that you'll always receive the same excellent service.

The Transcendit way outlines how we do business; following the same straightforward principles with every client and customer, regardless of how big or small they may be.

That means we get to know you and your business. We offer you a friendly, professional and efficient service, and we'll always be honest with you.
We understand that not everybody speaks fluent IT, so we try to explain things in a way that is simple and clear. We always spend as much time as is necessary explaining things to you.
If you need to talk to us about something, no matter how insignificant, we are only ever a phone call away – and we’re never too busy to make you a cup of tea and have a sit down with you in person.
We understand how frustrating it can be when things are late. When we schedule an appointment with you, we are there when you’re expecting us. If something prevents us from getting there, we always call you in advance to let you know.
Sometimes things can go wrong, but we never lie to you or try to cover something up. If things go askew we tell you what’s happened and how we plan to prevent it affecting your business.
We want you to continuously benefit from working with us. We regularly discuss your business and make suggestions for improving systems and processes wherever we can – but we never try to push you into a purchase.
When we quote a fixed price, that's always the amount we charge – you won’t find any nasty surprises on a bill from us. If you are paying by time and materials, we inform you if our approximations could change.
We understand the importance of privacy for your business and your customers. We respect the confidentiality of your data, and we will never pass on your information to third parties.
We appreciate it when you take the time to give us feedback. A system called CustomerSure records our client's responses, so you can trust that our reviews are from real people.
