If you’ve started a business in the North East, and you’re looking for a little help; be it financial assistance, advice on running your business, or you’ve just got some business related questions that you need answers for, you’re in luck. The North East is a treasure trove of networking events for both startups and established businesses. Here’s our top picks for networking events in Newcastle, Gateshead and beyond.
The Mussel Club is very well established, and has been hosting business networking events for the past ten years. Each month they host three breakfast networking events at the BIC in Sunderland, the Vermont in Newcastle and Emirates Riverside in Durham. These are absolutely free, and are great places to get talking to other business owners as well as getting your questions answered.
It’s not all about the breakfast; The Mussel Club runs a range of workshops and events on funding, sales, marketing, data and more. If that isn’t enough for you, Show your Mussel 2019 is on the 13th June, and is the North East’s largest networking event.
NE Chamber
The North East England Chamber of Commerce is ‘the largest business membership organisation representing 3,000 businesses’. They run a series of Chamber Local events, in Newcastle, Middlesbrough and Sunderland - you do need to be a member of the Chamber to attend regularly, but you can attend one Chamber event as a non-member to check it out.
The Chamber’s flagship networking event is the Chamber Exchange, and is on the second Thursday of each month. They attract around 100 members a session and are structured around ‘Discussing a challenge’ and ‘Sharing a success’ - great ways to get chatting to business leaders from a wide range of sectors and industries.
Network B2B
Network B2B run breakfast and lunch events all over the country; the North East has a range of options including Jesmond, The Quayside, Newcastle City Centre and three different locations in Gateshead. Their meetings are great places to form new business relationships. They also run monthly events if you can’t get to a weekly meeting regularly.
You can attend two events with Network B2B before having to sign up - but it’s only £35 for a year’s membership, and then £15 for each meeting that is collected on the day. They also ensure that the weekly groups are made up of businesses from different sectors, so that you don’t run into your competition.
