Director Tom Tinsley is retiring this month, after founding and working for Transcendit for the last 19 years, and working in IT since 1978.
'It's been an incredible journey working with my fellow directors over the past two decades,' says Tom. 'When we started this business we'd all been working for a larger IT corporation, and had got frustrated with the way they'd sold to people. We wanted to do things differently - and we accomplished that.'
'We've come a long way since we established the business back in 2000, but we've never lost sight of why we wanted to start our own business in the first place; finding the right solution for our customers, and getting to know our clients and their businesses really well. I couldn't be happier with where Transcendit is today.'
'I'm looking forward to spending more time with my partner Gillian, training for the Great North Run which a few of us are doing this year, visiting my grown-up sons, and going to Liverpool to watch the football.'
Tom will be sincerely missed by the team at Transcendit. 'Directors Tom and Adam hired me back in 2016,' says Rebecca Harrison. 'I had never been to Gateshead before, and headed to the Metrocentre on the train. I'd booked a taxi from there to the interview but the taxi didn't turn up, and while I was trying to get another one I ran out of minutes.'
'I emailed Adam to say that I was really sorry, but I was lost and wouldn't make the interview in time - essentially saying, thanks for the opportunity to meet you but I'm not going to make it.'
'Without missing a beat, Adam came to pick me up from the Metrocentre. Tom sent me an email with the subject line, ''Adam is walking to you - blue suit, no tie, looking around for a young lady who looks lost''. It was mortifying at the time, but Tom really put me at ease - I did the interview with both of them, and I got the job.'
'It's a funny story to me now, and really illustrates the kind of people that the Directors here are. Tom and Adam went above and beyond to get me to the interview. Tom even walked me to the bus stop afterwards - just in case I got lost again.'
'Tom is just wonderful, and like all the Directors here, he puts you first. Whether it's a client, or an employee, or even a complete stranger - nothing is ever too much trouble. We'll all be very sad to see him go.'
'Transcendit is still very close to my heart,' says Tom, 'and I'll be popping my head in every now and again to say hello and see how everyone is getting on. It's not goodbye, it's see you later.'
