Marketing & Campaigns: Developing a clear strategy for your communications
Thursday 16th February 2023, 13:00-15:00. This training takes place online.
This training is ideal for those who are involved in the marketing and communications for your organisation, and want to improve their strategies.
This training is for community organisations and social enterprises that work with people and communities in Gateshead. It focuses on developing effective strategies so that your business or organisation can reach the communities you want to reach, and meet the aims of your enterprise. The training will include the key ingredients of a communication strategy, the importance of understanding your audience, identifying the different types of campaigns and choosing the right communication channels, as well as tips on creating effective content.
Through a combination of interactive presentations and group activities, you’ll learn how to create content which meets your goals, and improves visibility for your organisation.
Cultural Competency: Working with ethnically minoritised communities
Wednesday 22nd February, 13:00 -15:30. This training takes place online.
If you’d like your business or organisation to be more culturally aware, this cultural competency training might be worth a look.
This two and a half hour training is funded by Newcastle Public Health, and informed by the lived experiences of people from ethnically minoritised communities through the Haref Network. It’s free at the point of access for health and wellbeing practitioners who are working in Newcastle upon Tyne. The training will take you through the meaning of culture and the diverse and intersecting characteristics of local communities. By the end of the training, you’ll develop the skills needed to identify barriers to accessing services, as well as feel more confident and competent when working with diverse communities.
This cultural competency training will use a combination of activities and discussions to help you to recognise what good practice looks like when working with ethnically minoritised communities.
Disability rights workshop
Thursday 23rd February 2023, 10:00 - 14:00. This training takes place online.
This workshop is perfect for those work with or alongside disabled people, as well as those who want to improve their awareness around disability discrimination.
This half day training is available for voluntary and social organisations who work with people in Gateshead, and is run by Adam Matthews of Society Matters CIC. It focuses on disability discrimination, including how it affects people, understanding the classification of disability, how it is integrated within the Equality Act, the differences between direct discrimination, indirect discrimination and harassment, and the support available for people who have been affected by disability discrimination.
This workshop uses case studies to help you understand the real impact of disability discrimination, and how organisations and businesses can support disabled people who have been discriminated against.
Funding: Developing a strategic approach
Thursday 13th April 2023, 13:00 - 15:00. This training takes place online.
If you’re new to fundraising, or you’re hoping to be more strategic in the way that you fundraise, this two-hour training is for you.
This training is for voluntary and social organisations that work with people and communities in Newcastle and Gateshead. Throughout the training, you will learn how to identify a broader range of funding sources in order to create a wide-reaching and diverse funding base. There will also be a focus on planning and formulation, and how this can increase the probability of a successful funding bid. If funding is just one aspect of your job role, you’ll be trained on how to integrate funding into your work. You’ll also learn about the funder's expectations and how to meet them.
This training course uses presentations as well as group activities to help attendees feel more confident and competent in their ability to fundraise; an ideal training for those who want to take their fundraising to the next level.
