Transcendit receptionist Gaynor Thompson is taking part in the Big Learner Relay on Sunday 14th November, to raise money for Children in Need.
The Big Learner Relay is a collaboration of hundreds of driving instructor schools around the country. Participating driving instructors cover their cars in brightly coloured spots, which sponsors can write their names on when they donate.
According to the website, 'driving instructors will be relaying a top box from one driving lesson to another around England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.' The top box will have travelled around 3000 miles once it reaches its destination in Donington.
Gaynor is taking the wheel with her mum, Julie Thompson, who is also her driving instructor. The pair are leading the charge from Beamish Museum to Durham test centre, and then following the next lead car to Rushyford. Together with instructor Andy Allen, who is leading the way from Durham to Rushyford, they are hoping to raise over £600 for Children in Need.
'It's a really great thing to be a part of,' says Gaynor. 'I'm getting ready to take my driving test now, so it's a good time for me to push myself. The relay is a fun way to raise some money for charity, and build up the confidence of learner drivers.'
