Festival season is almost upon us, and it's time to get your bag packed. We've found techie solutions to all your festival woes, so you can get on with having a good time. Here are our picks of the apps and gadgets that are going to be essential if you're heading to a festival this summer.
Hefty power bank - Bernet Solar Charger, £28.99
The most essential piece of kit is your power bank. Like it or not, your phone is going to run out - and the last thing you need is to be paying through the nose for power, or fighting people off at the charging station. Keep the Bernet Solar Charger in your arsenal and you'll be laughing. You can charge an iPhone 6 nine times, and you can charge 3 things at once. Plus the solar panel will get you a little extra power if you need it. We'd recommend using this as your overnight charger - it's pretty heavy to be carting round with you all day.
Portable power bank - Anker PowerCore, £13.99
For a power bank that can be left in your bum bag, Anker has our heart. Their power bank is only 10cm long, and carries enough power to charge an iPhone 6 twice over. Perfect for keeping your devices powered through the day. It'll charge an iPhone 6 fully twice over before it runs out of juice, and a Galaxy 7 once through. We'd recommend using this when you're out and about, particularly if you're using apps or the camera, and you need a top up to get you through the day.
App for finding people - Find My Friends, Free
Keeping track of your group at a festival is akin to herding cats - there's always one person that never answers their phone. That's where Find my Friends comes in. This app may have been around for years but there's a reason it has lasted so long - it's awesome. If you're using an ios 9 or later you already have this on your iPhone, but it's worth getting for Android and Windows too. Just share your location with your friends to get real time updates of where they're heading.
Tech to find your tent - Tent Finder, £7.99
Ok, so you could douse your tent in solar powered fairy lights, or haul a flag to your campsite, but our solution is a lot less cumbersome and lot more awesome. This Tent Finder is a disk of 23 LED lights that you hang to your tent. Get within 50 feet of it and you can hit the remote, which lights up the Tent Finder to help guide you home. It'll save you tons of time stumbling around tents and guy ropes, and it's absolutely essential if you've been drinking since eight o'clock that morning.
A trustworthy weather app - Dark Sky, £2.99
Fed up of deciding whether to put your waterproofs on or not? Or whether you walk twenty minutes back to the campsite to pick up a sunhat? What you need is a weather app - and Dark Sky is the best weather app out there. It can tell you exactly when it's going to rain down to the minute, so it's an absolute must if you're heading to a festival this summer. Hyperlocal weather forecasts, and predictions so spot on it feels a little bit creepy. For the sake of £2.99, Dark Sky is a must.
A durable sound system - Ultimate Ears Wonderboom, £59.90
Don't bother carting hundreds of pounds worth of speakers across muddy fields, go for something reasonably priced, light and durable without compromising on the sound quality. For our money, we'd go for the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom Bluetooth Speaker. It's completely waterproof, boasts great sound quality and you can pair it with other speakers of its kind too - and with 10 hours of battery life you won't be reaching for that power bank too often. If you're looking for something cheap and cheerful, this Betron speaker is our second choice.
