Get the remote party started with these apps

We might be in lockdown for a while longer, but that doesn’t mean that you have to stick with the same old activities. If you’re looking for something new and different to do with your friends and family over video chat, here are our top picks.

Try some remote video games

We found some awesome games that you can play remotely with your friends and family, and if you’re looking for something new to try over Zoom then these will certainly help. And if gaming isn’t exactly everyone’s cup of tea, we’ve got some fun little apps that are really accessible for everyone.

If you’re still not inspired, try AirConsole - the online video game console. You use your smartphone as the gamepad, and a browser as the console. There are over 160 games to play with their subscription service, and an unlimited number of players. You can also play locally or remotely, so it doesn’t matter where in the world you are (or what tier you’re in!).

Watch a movie together

There are some great apps that use screen sharing which can take your movie night to the next level. There’s no need to count down and try to click play at the same time; use an application like Teleparty (previously Netflix Party) and everyone can watch at the same time, and drop their thoughts into the chat bar too.

If you want to continue video chatting whilst you watch your film or tv show, we’d recommend Kast. Up to 20 people can share their screen or camera, and another 100 can watch too. Great for chain watching the latest Netflix series regardless of lockdown restrictions.

Crack open a book

Reading together is another great option that is made easy by apps. We’d recommend Kindle for bookworms, as it has all the e-books available that you can purchase on Amazon (often at a cheaper price than the physical copies) as well as customisable options for day and night time reading, such as screen brightness and page colour.

If listening to books is more your speed, Audible is our pick. You can get a thirty day free trial, and even if you cancel you get to keep the title that you chose. Stuck for what to choose? Try The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman - a hilarious crime fiction about a group of seniors who try to solve a murder.

Get cooking (or cocktail making)

If you’re tired of just staring at a screen, and would rather get up and do something, cooking together can be a great way to reconnect. There are a ton of great apps that can help you do this - One Green Planet’s Food Monster app has a ton of recipes to try, as well as the ability to bookmark your favourites to share with your friends.

If cooking doesn’t appeal, then how about trying some cocktails? Cocktail Flow has a great website and app which has a load of different cocktail recipes that you can make easily at home. If you’d rather a mocktail than a cocktail, they have that covered too - just check out their smoothies section.

The Transcendit Way

Transcendit understand that when you choose to work with us, whether we're taking care of your IT, app or web development, you're trusting us with part of your business. So whether we're looking after your computers, phone systems or servers we always do things 'the Transcendit way'.

The whole of our team adhere to the same values, beliefs and policies - the principles that were written when Transcendit first formed in 2000. Whether you come to us for cloud services or recovery backup you can be confident that you'll always receive the same excellent service.

The Transcendit way outlines how we do business; following the same straightforward principles with every client and customer, regardless of how big or small they may be.

That means we get to know you and your business. We offer you a friendly, professional and efficient service, and we'll always be honest with you.
We understand that not everybody speaks fluent IT, so we try to explain things in a way that is simple and clear. We always spend as much time as is necessary explaining things to you.
If you need to talk to us about something, no matter how insignificant, we are only ever a phone call away – and we’re never too busy to make you a cup of tea and have a sit down with you in person.
We understand how frustrating it can be when things are late. When we schedule an appointment with you, we are there when you’re expecting us. If something prevents us from getting there, we always call you in advance to let you know.
Sometimes things can go wrong, but we never lie to you or try to cover something up. If things go askew we tell you what’s happened and how we plan to prevent it affecting your business.
We want you to continuously benefit from working with us. We regularly discuss your business and make suggestions for improving systems and processes wherever we can – but we never try to push you into a purchase.
When we quote a fixed price, that's always the amount we charge – you won’t find any nasty surprises on a bill from us. If you are paying by time and materials, we inform you if our approximations could change.
We understand the importance of privacy for your business and your customers. We respect the confidentiality of your data, and we will never pass on your information to third parties.
We appreciate it when you take the time to give us feedback. A system called CustomerSure records our client's responses, so you can trust that our reviews are from real people.

The lads are absolutely fantastic and we can’t do without them, everyone I’ve dealt with has always been so patient, lovely and never patronising with me and I’m probably hard work. I would be lost without you David Wright
