The North East Digital Festival is a celebration of all things digital. From the 11th - 22nd May, tech enthusiasts can access a ton of different events, discussions and workshops, showcasing the best that the North East has to offer in terms of tech and digital talent, businesses and opportunities.
According to their brochure, ‘NEDF empowers organisations, policy-makers, entrepreneurs, communities and groups across the North East of England to host insightful, inspiring events that help grow the region’s digital ecosystem, putting it on the national and international map as a thriving hub.’
Here’s everything you need to know about their five flagship events, which are definitely not to be missed.
Tech Talent, Tuesday 12th May, 2pm - 7pm @ The Boiler Shop (Free to attend)
Tech Talent is the North East’s top careers, jobs and skills events, attracting the best and the brightest from in and around Newcastle. They’re expecting over 60 different exhibitors, who will either be businesses promoting current jobs and career opportunities within their companies (from entry level to management) or colleges, universities and training institutions promoting their courses and offering accredited certification in order to improve your skills.
Thinking Digital, Wednesday 13th May and Thursday 14th May @ The Sage (£140 for a standard ticket)
Thinking Digital is aimed at those ‘curious about technology, ideas and our future’. It’s become a cornerstone of digital events in the North East, and is now in its 13th year. Attendees can expect to hear talks on the subjects on AI, robotics, new technologies, innovation and virtual reality, to name but a few. Thinking Digital is an absolute must for digital fanatics.
From engagement to inclusion, Thursday 14th May @ Orange Bus (Free to attend, invite only)
If you’re currently working in or with local authorities and ‘facing the challenge of redesigning public services and implementing digital transformation programmes’, then From Engagement to Inclusion is the event for you. The event will include presentations from those who have faced this challenge head on, as well as panel discussions and time for networking at the end of the day.
The Late Shows, Friday 15th May and Saturday 16th May in Newcastle/Gateshead (Free to attend)
The Late Shows is a ‘free, late-night culture crawl’ around Newcastle and Gateshead, and is always a fantastic weekend of events. The Late Shows sees, ‘museums, galleries, studio collectives and landmark historical buildings come together to offer visitors one-off events including hands-on workshops, behind-the-scenes tours, performances and parties.’ The line up is yet to be announced for 2020, but check their website for updates.
Newcastle Startup Week, Wednesday 18th May to Sunday 22nd May in Newcastle/Gateshead (£190.49 for all 5 days, inc. VAT)
