Connected Voice is a Newcastle based charity, focused on helping voluntary organisations, communities and people in and around the North East. Over the past 90 years, they have connected social enterprise businesses and individuals with funding, advocacy, support and development, accounting support and employment opportunities both in the North of England and across the UK.
Connected Voice also offers a range of training, workshops and e-learning courses that are available for free to Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise organisations. Here are our top picks to help support your charity or community group.
Developing a strong understanding of cyber security is essential for the longevity of your organisation. According to the Government’s Cyber Security Breaches Survey 2025, ‘just over four in ten businesses (43%) and three in ten charities (30%) reported having experienced any kind of cyber security break or attack in the last 12 months. This equates to approximately 612,000 UK businesses and 61,000 UK charities that identified a cyber break or attack in the past year.’
The E-Learning course from Connected Voice, ‘explores the risks charities and voluntary organisations face from cyber threats and provides practical steps to protect against online criminals. Topics include understanding cyber attacks, the importance of cyber security, identifying risks specific to charities, and effective protective measures. You will also learn how to respond to cyber incidents and access helpful resources.’
According to gov.uk, ‘Protecting people and safeguarding responsibilities should be a governance priority for all charities. It is a fundamental part of operating as a charity for the public benefit…you must take reasonable steps to protect from harm people who come into contact with your charity. This includes people who benefit from your charity’s work, staff, volunteers [and] other people who come into contact with your charity through its work.’
This Adult Safeguarding Essentials training is presented by Jennifer Mars and Jackie Burke of North Tyneside Council, and is ‘...specifically for staff, trustees and volunteers working in voluntary and community settings. The course has been designed and delivered in partnership with expertise from the North Tyneside Safeguarding Adults Board. The course will go over the types and signs of abuse, adults at risk and how to report a safeguarding concern.’ It includes three case studies where participants can test their understanding of safeguarding, and when a disclosure needs to be made.
According to the Parker Review, an independent review of the ethnic and cultural diversity of UK boardrooms, ‘The top two reasons holding leaders back in making progress towards race equity are seen by them to be ‘the fear of making inappropriate statements’ and ‘the fear of being labelled racist’. The Guardian states that, ‘Women’s worsening unemployment and participation in the workforce has pulled the UK behind Canada to its lowest ranking for workplace equality among large economies in a decade.’
The Diverse Leaders workshop from Connected Voice will help your organisation develop an understanding of unconscious bias, as well as, ‘The different types of bias, how to address these biases to create a diverse board, the 5 Pillars of Inclusive Recruitment [and] how we can minimise the impact of bias within an application process.’
Transcendit understand that when you choose to work with us, whether we're taking care of your IT, app or
web development, you're trusting us with part of your business. So whether we're looking after your
computers, phone systems or servers we always do things 'the
Transcendit way'.
The whole of our team adhere to the same values, beliefs and policies - the principles that were written
when Transcendit first formed in 2000. Whether you come to us for cloud services or recovery backup you
can be confident that you'll always receive the same excellent service.
The Transcendit way outlines how we do business; following the same straightforward principles with every
client and customer, regardless of how big or small they may be.
We understand that not everybody speaks fluent IT, so we try to explain things in a way that is
simple and clear. We always spend as much time as is necessary explaining things to you.
If you need to talk to us about something, no matter how insignificant, we are only ever a phone
call away – and we’re never too busy to make you a cup of tea and have a sit down with you in
person.
We understand how frustrating it can be when things are late. When we schedule an appointment with
you, we are there when you’re expecting us. If something prevents us from getting there, we always
call you in advance to let you know.
Sometimes things can go wrong, but we never lie to you or try to cover something up. If things go
askew we tell you what’s happened and how we plan to prevent it affecting your business.
We want you to continuously benefit from working with us. We regularly discuss your business and
make suggestions for improving systems and processes wherever we can – but we never try to push
you into a purchase.
When we quote a fixed price, that's always the amount we charge – you won’t find any nasty
surprises on a bill from us. If you are paying by time and materials, we inform you if our
approximations could change.
We understand the importance of privacy for your business and your customers. We respect the
confidentiality of your data, and we will never pass on your information to third parties.
We appreciate it when you take the time to give us feedback. A system called CustomerSure records
our client's responses, so you can trust that our reviews are from real people.
