What are Skills Bootcamps?
Gateshead College’s Skills Bootcamps are designed for individuals who are wanting to develop their existing skill set, or learn something new that could be beneficial to their current job role. If you’re over 19 years old, live in Gateshead, Sunderland, South Tyneside, Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland or County Durham, and you have the right to live and work in the UK, you’re eligible for a Skills Bootcamp.
These courses can be used by employers to upskill their workforce, or alternatively can be accessed by independent learners. They provide industry standard qualifications, so are perfect for those who have been working in a role that they don’t yet have a qualification in, or for those who want to get qualified at a higher level. Skills Bootcamps last between 2 weeks and 2 years, depending on the qualification, and end with a guaranteed interview with a local employer.
Gateshead College offers Skills Bootcamps in a number of different sectors. These are Digital and Finance, Engineering And Technical, Green Power and Construction, and Teaching and Learning.
Digital and Finance
Gateshead College is offering a wide range of Digital and Finance Skills Bootcamps, including Cyber Security, Software Development, Cloud Solutions, Data Analytics, Software Testing, Full Stack Development, Digital Marketing, IT Support and more. All of these courses are Level 3 - 5 qualifications.
Engineering and Technical
Gateshead College’s current Engineering and Technical Skills Bootcamp is Technical 6G Welding. This is an advanced welding qualification for those who hold a Level 2 in welding or have 2 or more years of welding experience.
Green Power and Construction
For Green Power and Construction, Gateshead College is offering a number of fully funded courses that focus on the building, running and maintenance of wind turbines and renewable energy. These include Wind Turbine Technician, Blade Repair, Groundworks and Future Homes.
Teaching and Learning
For those already teaching, or those interested in starting a career in teaching, Gateshead College is offering a range of Teaching, Training and Assessment courses. On completing these courses, you will receive either a Level 3 and Level 4 qualification.
How much does a Skills Bootcamp cost?
If you’re an independent learner, and not taking the course through your employer, you can take a Skills Bootcamp with Gateshead College for free. If you’re an employer looking to upskill their workforce, you’ll need to pay a contribution. If you’re a small to medium enterprise (SME), you’ll be expected to pay 10% of course fees. For large businesses, you’ll be expected to pay 30%.
