Microsoft Teams for Office 365 is a great way to change the way your teams collaborate on projects, tasks and jobs. The cloud based application means that you can access your work anywhere, on any device with an internet connection; and you can work together with your colleagues, stay updated on a task and receive notifications as things progress.
Last year, we discussed the basics of Microsoft Teams with Dave Scott; what it does, how to use it and the basics of introducing it to your business. In this series, we’re going to be taking a closer look at Microsoft Teams and figuring out how to get the most out of the application.
This month, we’ve got tips to help you talk - how Microsoft Teams can help you communicate more effectively. With Microsoft Teams, all of your conversations and collaborations on a project is centralised - meaning all the information that your team needs can be found and accessed easily. But how can Microsoft Teams help get you talking?
End email based communication
One of the main solutions that Microsoft Teams provides businesses with is an end to email based communication. We’re not ready to throw Microsoft Outlook to the lions, but with Microsoft Teams all your communication is stored in threads, like Twitter, but without the hashtags. This means that any and all work your team is doing can be talked about in a centralised, easy-to-access location. Trying to reply to the latest email is a thing of the past, as is important information being lost in your inbox.
Say hello to awesome search features
Just like email-based communication, you can add subject lines to your conversations. As well as keeping conversations focused on the matter at hand (and not diverting off into plans for the work social that evening) it means that you can search for the conversation later from Microsoft Teams. This is super handy if you’re trying to keep track of decisions that have been made, particularly those pertaining to a project or task. Just use the search tool in the application to find that conversation thread again.
In-app instant chat
What would a communications platform be without an instant message feature? With Microsoft Teams, you can private message your colleagues instantly with any quick questions you don’t want to devote an entire conversation thread to. This is a really effective way to communicate quickly with your peers without moving to a different platform; when everyone is working through Teams, you’re more likely to get an answer fast. And if you get sick of typing? Immediately switch to an audio or a video call.
