Microsoft 365 for charities

What is Microsoft 365?

Microsoft 365, previously known as Office 365, is a software service which allows you access to all of the Microsoft Office suite and applications, as well as Microsoft Teams, and security for your organisation so that it is protected from online threats and malware. You can call, chat and host meetings, create and share access to files online, and have your own business email to stay connected with your staff and clients. 

For charities, Microsoft 365 means that you can give everyone access to Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook, OneDrive and more. Whether it’s volunteers that need to access information about your organisation, staff that need to access client information, or employees that need to fill in documents, Microsoft Office has it all. And with cybersecurity included, you can be sure that your organisation is as safe as it can be.

What is Microsoft Teams, and how can it help my charity?

Microsoft Teams is an application which includes instant chat, video chat, calls and collaboration from a single place. You can set up different teams, channels and groups for staff, volunteers and directors, and share information, files and updates directly with the groups that need it. 

Schedule meetings through your calendar, hold conference calls, share your screen, take notes, use a whiteboard, even record it for those who aren’t there - everything that you need to streamline your communication and take your meetings to the next level. After you’ve finished a meeting, everything from that meeting gets saved so it can be accessed at any time.

For charities, Microsoft Teams means that you can collaborate regardless of where your employees and volunteers are. Microsoft Teams is cloud based, so it can be accessed by any device that is connected to the internet, whatever the time of day. There’s no need to share equipment or pass devices between multiple people; Microsoft Teams makes meetings, information and applications accessible to everyone.

How much does it cost? 

There are two different options for small and mid-sized non-profits and charities.

If you have 10 users or less, you'll be eligible for Microsoft 365 Business Premium, for free. This comes with office desktop applications, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Powerpoint, as well as cloud storage with One Drive (up to 1TB). You also have business class email, Microsoft Teams and even Windows Defender. 

Microsoft 365 Business Basic is also completely free, and you can use it for up to 300 users. With this version of Microsoft 365, charities can access the online versions of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Powerpoint. OneDrive is also included, as well as 1TB of storage, Business class email and Microsoft Teams.

If you have more than 300 users, you can also get the full version at a discounted rate.
