Reprotec, a supplier of Resin flooring, is celebrating its 30th birthday this year. As one of our long-standing IT support customers, Director Tom Tinsley and Copywriter Rebecca Harrison went along to their office in County Durham to find out more about the business, and the advice they’d give to companies just starting out.
‘We’ve been working with Reprotec for seven years,’ says Director Tom Tinsley. ‘It’s absolutely vital to Transcendit to know our customers and their businesses inside out and create a strong working relationship. That way we can be sure we’re delivering the service they need and should expect from us.’
‘Transcendit and Reprotec are similar in a way, as the Transcendit Directors and Reprotec Managing Director John Holmes used their knowledge and experience of their industries to start their businesses from scratch. As such, you keep that personal touch and the respect that you have for your clients. That’s certainly helped us stay in business, and it’s clearly also worked for John and the team at Reprotec.’
Reprotec was founded in 1988 by Managing Director John Holmes, who was keen to be his own boss and start working for himself. The SME is now an award-winning market leader in surface protection technology, specialising in resin flooring systems including visual floor management signage and H&S demarcations.
‘Over the thirty years we’ve been in business, Reprotec has expanded into becoming Reprotec Group, which includes our Reprotec contracting services and our material sales company, Repair and Maintenance Suppliers Ltd that sells our products to trade and public,’ says John. ‘Watching the business grow has been amazing but seeing Reprotec Team develop personally and professionally is my proudest achievement. We’re also proud to have long held accreditations such as CHAS, Constructionline and Investors in People.’
‘Reprotec has always been at the forefront of development, having been one of the first resin companies in the UK to introduce the trade association apprenticeship in In-situ floor laying, which has led to individual Reprotec staff progressing further, some up to NVQ Level 6 In management.
‘Reprotec’s values have never changed in 30 years and are very much based upon my personal values. It’s important to give people an opportunity to develop personally and in their career within the industry; and as such all our staff are fully employed and trained to a high standard.’
For companies starting out, John says that the best advice he can give is to be strong with your beliefs and values, and your systems of work, ‘Look after your people; aim to give them the tools to achieve their very best.’
