Surfing, geocaching and foraging; the apps that'll get you outdoors

It's officially warm enough to go outside without a coat on. If you're hoping to make the most of the weather but need some tech to get you started, here's our pick of the apps that should get you outdoors.

For the treasure hunter - Cachly (£3.99 for ios)
Geocaching is sort of like a worldwide treasure hunt. There are lots of 'caches' hidden all over the country, and using Cachly you can follow the clues (and use your GPS) to find them. There is an official geocaching app, but we like Cachly as its just a one off payment rather than a subscription.

To find the surf - Magic Seaweed (Free for ios and Android)
If the sea is more your scene, Magic Seaweed is a great way to keep an eye on the surf. You can check the forecasts, how high the waves are going to be, the wind and the tide. You can also view the live reports from a beach, and even check the webcam for a beach in real time.

For the adventurous walker - iFootpath (£1.99 for ios and Android)
This app is essentially a massive library of walking guides, combining traditional step-by-step guides and user-uploaded routes. The app uses GPS to direct you through the walks, with photographs against each step. It also gives you a difficulty rating for each walk. You can even add your favourite walks to the collection.

To find the snacks - Wild Edibles Forage (£5.99 for ios, £3.86 for Android)
There are a lot of foraging apps out there, but Wild Edibles is our pick of the bunch. It uses clear photos, in-depth descriptions of each plant and details of where it can be found. You can also add your own notes against each plant. Great for identifying and recording any plants that you come across.

For the amateur photographer - Yonder (Free for ios and Android)
If you can't head into the great outdoors without snapping a thousand photos, this is the app for you. You can search for nearby 'experiences' using the map feature, and then see photos and comments from other users. You can also take your own photos, check in at a location, and add to the app.

To find a place to kip - WikiCamps UK (£0.99 for ios and Android)
If you're looking for somewhere to stay, WikiCamps is a really useful app. You can search for campsites using a map and filter the results depending on your requirements; then just follow their directions to the place you want. It also works offline; vital if you're heading off into the wilderness (or at least somewhere without signal).

The Best All Rounder - ViewRanger (Free for ios and Android)
This is a seriously comprehensive app. You just pop in the activities you might fancy doing (biking, hiking, hang gliding, hot air ballooning etc.) and your location, and the app will show you the best cycle routes, walks and hot air balloon trips in your chosen area from users. Perfect for exploring new areas.

The Transcendit Way

Transcendit understand that when you choose to work with us, whether we're taking care of your IT, app or web development, you're trusting us with part of your business. So whether we're looking after your computers, phone systems or servers we always do things 'the Transcendit way'.

The whole of our team adhere to the same values, beliefs and policies - the principles that were written when Transcendit first formed in 2000. Whether you come to us for cloud services or recovery backup you can be confident that you'll always receive the same excellent service.

The Transcendit way outlines how we do business; following the same straightforward principles with every client and customer, regardless of how big or small they may be.

That means we get to know you and your business. We offer you a friendly, professional and efficient service, and we'll always be honest with you.
We understand that not everybody speaks fluent IT, so we try to explain things in a way that is simple and clear. We always spend as much time as is necessary explaining things to you.
If you need to talk to us about something, no matter how insignificant, we are only ever a phone call away – and we’re never too busy to make you a cup of tea and have a sit down with you in person.
We understand how frustrating it can be when things are late. When we schedule an appointment with you, we are there when you’re expecting us. If something prevents us from getting there, we always call you in advance to let you know.
Sometimes things can go wrong, but we never lie to you or try to cover something up. If things go askew we tell you what’s happened and how we plan to prevent it affecting your business.
We want you to continuously benefit from working with us. We regularly discuss your business and make suggestions for improving systems and processes wherever we can – but we never try to push you into a purchase.
When we quote a fixed price, that's always the amount we charge – you won’t find any nasty surprises on a bill from us. If you are paying by time and materials, we inform you if our approximations could change.
We understand the importance of privacy for your business and your customers. We respect the confidentiality of your data, and we will never pass on your information to third parties.
We appreciate it when you take the time to give us feedback. A system called CustomerSure records our client's responses, so you can trust that our reviews are from real people.

Very friendly and helpful. Doesn't presume that you know much but at the same time doesn't speak to you as if you know nothing. Very pleased with my contact. Christine Gibbs, KSA Group Ltd
