This past week the internet has been losing its mind over the space bar iPhone hack - which none of us knew about, even though it has been a thing since the iPhone 6. So what other features are hidden away in your smartphone? Here are the hacks that Apple really need to start talking about.
Change your space bar to a track pad
The hack of the moment is the space bar to track pad. Hands down, the most annoying part of typing on an iPhone is trying to move that tiny little cursor between a couple of words by repeatedly tapping around the screen.
You can wave goodbye to this issue with this hack. Just hold the space bar on your iPhone while typing and it turns onto a cursor, eradicating the issue of continuously stabbing at the screen. You can also press a bit harder to highlight a word (although we tried this in the office, and none of us could figure it out).
Shake your phone to undo
This is a fun little feature, but whether it saves time or not is anyone's guess. When you're typing away, mastering the space bar to track pad trick, give your iPhone a shake. You should get a pop up box appear, asking whether you want to undo typing.
We're not sold on this one. As fun as it is to mistype something and then shake your phone in frustration to have it do something productive, we feel that the backspace works just as well. You're also less likely to fling your phone into whatever/whomever is in front of you.
Going somewhere? Check the weather
Don't you hate it when you're planning a journey in maps, and you have to open a separate weather app to figure out whether you're taking an umbrella or not? In Apple Maps, you might have noticed a tiny little weather icon.
Press and hold that, and you'll get a little forecast for the area that you're heading to. It takes it's forecasts from Apple Weather (obviously), so if that's your weather app of choice then this is a great little feature.
Pick up your phone to good vibrations
Do you find it annoying not knowing who's calling you? Are you tired of having to physically pick up your phone and look at the screen? Even if you set custom ringtones for everyone, what about when your phone is on silent?
Instead of leaving everyone on the default vibrations, you can create custom vibrations for everyone. Just head to your contact, then to vibrations, and scroll until you see 'Create custom vibration'. Tap an awesome beat on the screen and save to easily distinguish between all your contacts.
Fall asleep to music
If you're the kind of person who likes a little noise to fall asleep to, this little feature is going to be ideal. Set your tunes or podcast going, and then head to the Apple clock app.
Hit timer, and guess how long it'll take you to get to sleep. Then scroll past the long list of alarms and select 'Stop Playing'. Tuck yourself in, and your phone will stop playing your music or podcast as soon as the timer hits zero.
Snap a spontaneous selfie
When you're on your lock screen, you can swipe up for a load of great options - there's screen recording, a timer and a flashlight to name a few. However, if you press and hold any one of these buttons you'll be presented with a few more options - like deciding the intensity of the flashlight, or setting the timer itself.
With the camera, hitting it once will take you to the app. But press and hold the button, and you can select 'Take Selfie' 'Record Video' or 'Scan QR Code'. It'll then take you to the app, but you won't have to scroll through to find the mode you need.
