This time last year, the Transcendit team were asked, 'What would you ask Santa for if money was no object?' The results varied in price, from £599 for a robot vacuum to £543,000,000,000,000,000 for a replica of the Death Star.
As the economy is somewhat worse, this year the team were posed the question, 'What would you ask Santa for if he only had £50?' Their comments, and answers in ascending order are below.
Scott Dewings - iRoller, £14.49
Scott responded straight away with the cheapest item on Transcendit's Christmas List. iRoller is a reusable touchscreen cleaner, which Scott is very excited about receiving. It even comes with free delivery from Amazon.
Scott says, 'That’s what I want. I hate any screen with fingerprints. There’s nothing worse.'
Phil Preece - Star Wars Death Star Mood Light, £14.99
Phil went with a miniature version of the Death Star, which can be plugged into your computer through the USB port to give your desk that Star Wars feel. Just in case people don't know that you love Star Wars.
Jonty Davis - Bluetooth Portable Wireless Speaker/Radio, £22.99
Jonty went with a wireless speaker that also gets radio. 'You can connect your Raspberry Pi 3 to this, and play the music that you've made through the speaker! It can connect to loads of stuff, and you get a surprisingly good sound.'
Paul Callaghan - Bears vs. Babies Card Game, £28.36
After last Christmas' request for a Death Star, Paul said that he'd 'be a bit more modest this year'. According to Kickstarter, 'Bears vs Babies is a card game where you build handsome, incredible monsters who go to war with horrible, awful babies.' Paul says he wants the NSFW version.
Dave Kennedy - HooToo Wireless Travel Router, £42.99
Dave had a number of options, but our favourite pick was the HooToo Wireless Travel Router. Dave says, 'This is a battery powered wireless router which you can configure to connect to wired and wireless networks. It allows you to carry your own personal network with you.' Awesome and useful.
Lee Irving - Amazon Echo Dot, £44.99
Lee was one of the most indecisive buyers, chopping and changing his answer every five minutes.
'You can get a mini drone with a camera for less than £50. It flies for a whole seven minutes.'
'You can get a smartphone projector for £12.99. It's literally a cardboard box with a lens on it.'
Eventually Lee said, 'I've gone with Amazon Echo Dot. It's a microphone in your house that listens to everything and reports back to amazon.' When we said that we didn't know what the point of that is, he said he didn't really know either.
Helen Littlewood - Amazon Echo Dot, £44.99
Helen also opted for the Amazon Echo Dot (although she opted for it in white). She says, 'This would basically be like a robot friend for me. I often talk to myself, but I could chat away to this and it would actually listen to me and do stuff! (Unlike my fiance and sister...)
Adam McCormick - RokBlok, £47.71
Adam originally asked if he could use a more favourable exchange rate. He did get his choice on a bit of a technicality as the early bird offer was 40% off, making the Rok Blok £47.71. 'It's a portable wireless record player. You just put it on any record and it plays it. It's pretty awesome.'
Anthony Karapetrides - Ted Baker Over-Ear Headphones, £49.95
Anthony was very upset about this year's price limit. 'You can't even get Amazon Prime for £50. You've set too many parameters. This is impossible. Everything I want is expensive'. After much internet sleuthing, he found a pair of Ted Baker Over-Ear headphones on Amazon for a fraction of their RRP.
Christophe Duhaut - Wireless LED Lightbulb, £49.99
Christophe originally wanted a Freedrum Drumkit. Unfortunately, the cost of this in GBP was £55. Christophe finally decided on a Wireless LED Light Bulb, where you can alter the intensity and the colour of the light from your phone, 'It's pretty cool. I'd prefer the drum kit though.'
Kirk Conway - Rainbow LED Backlit Keyboard, £49.99
Kirk found a rainbow LED backlit keyboard, saying that he'd prefer the wireless version but it was £20 above the price limit. 'I want it because its much easier to type in darkened rooms when the keys are lit – searching for something on Netflix or Amazon to watch, and have to turn a light on? No thanks!'
David Wong - Nintendo Classic Mini, £49.99
David opted for the very popular Nintendo Classic Mini, which a fair few people were buzzing about at the time of writing. It has 30 original NES games, which makes it a great gift for any nostalgic game lovers.
