Newcastle Startup Week is a five day festival for entrepreneurs and businesses, bringing together over fifty different speakers to talk about how to get a business idea started, funded and established.
The festival is the brainchild of Paul Lancaster, a well-known tech leader in the North East. It will span across the whole of the city, held in multiple venues including the Boiler Shop, Northumbria University and Newcastle City Library.
Paul hopes that Newcastle Startup Week will encourage people to invest in the region, bring together business leaders and entrepreneurs and help Newcastle locals start their own businesses. The festival is primarily designed for people who have a great business idea, but lack the experience and knowledge to put it into action.
The festival will also bring together local SMEs with those who have less business experience, to promote the tech scene in Newcastle. Businesses in the North East will have the opportunity to meet up-and-coming tech innovators and entrepreneurs, and network with like-minded businesses.
The five days of events are designed to help start-ups at every stage of their journey, from 'Inspiration' on Monday 15th May, to 'Funding and Finance' on Wednesday 17th May, and ending with 'Keep going or pivot?' on Friday 19th May.
Business leaders and entrepreneurs from all around the North East have been invited to speak, including Tina Boden, Co-founder of Enterprise Rockers, John Dudgeon and Dave Gibson, Co-founders of Blu Sky Tax, and Zoe Farrington, Co-founder of RealRider.
You can buy tickets for the festival from the Newcastle Startup Week website for £40, which gets you access to all of the events across the week. For more information, contact Paul Lancaster on Twitter.
